“They are a gang of cowards, psychopaths capable only of using brute force against the weak. That is all this government is still capable of doing before it falls. And it will fall, because freedom cannot be stopped. Today, freedom is TV Republika,” said Tomasz Sakiewicz, CEO of TV Republika, during a demonstration in defense of free speech held outside the station’s headquarters.
A demonstration in support of the station’s journalists, who have been subjected to a series of controversial attacks over recent days, was organized outside the headquarters of TV Republika. Earlier today, police officers entered the apartment of the station’s CEO, Tomasz Sakiewicz. The officers handcuffed his assistant.
Sakiewicz addressed the gathered crowd
“My dear friends, thank you for being here. Another stage in the destruction of free speech in Poland has begun. The authorities have come to the conclusion that they now have only one goal left: to shut down TV Republika. They failed to destroy us financially. Thanks to you, thanks to your support and your contributions, TV Republika still exists. They failed in the courts; we resisted, we defended ourselves, and they were unable to shut us down. They failed technically as well, so now they have resorted to brute force. They stormed our homes, the homes of our journalists, several of them, and they also tried to force their way into the station itself. We now have a woman who was manhandled and handcuffed simply because, in my Warsaw office, she demanded identification from police officers who entered by force. The officers did not provide their names. They showed no documents, had no search warrant, refused to identify themselves, and wore no identification numbers on their uniforms. Then they left the handcuffed young woman in the middle of the street, removed the handcuffs, and fled like cowards,”
he said.
He added that, in his opinion, “Donald Tusk knows how to strike weak women and torment women, even completely random ones, because her only ‘offense’ was opening the door, and they attacked her simply because she happened to be there.”
“What is interesting is that I was there myself as the owner of the apartment and the owner of the office that has been located there for 15 years. And despite the fact that I also demanded the legal basis for the intervention, they did not approach me. Perhaps I am too big for those cowards… They only know how to fight women, and only when there are several of them. That is the strength of this government, which is why no one should fear them. They are a gang of cowards, psychopaths capable only of brutal force against the weak. That is all this government is still capable of doing before it falls. And it will fall, because freedom cannot be stopped. Today, freedom is TV Republika,”
he declared.
President Sakiewicz stressed that “everyone who defends TV Republika today is defending freedom.”
“This is not about our profile. It is not about how we make a living, although we live primarily thanks to you. This is about the fact that we are the last barrier preventing Tusk from restricting freedom of speech in Poland. A government like this cannot survive where free debate and free media still exist. They are afraid of freedom. They fear freedom just as they fear anyone in this country who has something to say,”
he stated.
In his view, the Tusk government “fears everyone who has the courage to be Polish, who has the courage to be a patriot, but also simply the courage to be themselves.”
“They are cowards. And soon, these cowards will simply be gone. But we must prepare ourselves for the fact that a dying regime will still try to bite back. It will still try to destroy us. We truly need to brace ourselves for difficult days ahead. They have decided to use terrorists to persecute TV Republika. Because they enter our premises on the basis of terrorist threats. The threats being reported are classified as acts of terror. And they are using terrorists as a pretext to raid TV Republika’s headquarters, our apartments, our offices, and to target women. Tusk is using terrorists. That is the entire mechanism that has now been set in motion,”
he said.
The head of TV Republika also commented on what he described as the scandalous conduct of the police officers.
“I feel sorry for those police officers, but for what they did to my assistant, for breaking the law, for brutality, for violating regulations, even the most obvious ones, such as the obligation of a police officer to identify himself, they will no longer be allowed to serve in the police force. They will have to answer for this. It is over. Gentlemen officers, if you continue to carry out orders that violate the law, there will be no place for you in a democratic police force,”
he declared.
He also added that if Tusk’s government had resorted to such methods, “a little more patience is needed.”
“Soon, this red rabble will simply be gone. You’ll see,”
he concluded.
