TV Republika is organizing a project that will present a social and political cross-section of the approximately 10 million-strong Polish-American community. – “If you also believe that it is worth building tools of Polish influence in the American political world, I encourage you to financially support the Great Study of the Polish-American Community”, said Michał Rachoń, Program Director of TV Republika.
For years, the media of the Free Speech Zone and the “Gazeta Polska” Clubs have been involved in projects aimed at building a strong voice for the Polish-American community, capable of influencing decisions made by the governing administration in the United States.
A Map of Polish Issues
TV Republika has launched an initiative to create a kind of map of Polish issues in the United States. The key to this effort is the Great Study of the Polish-American Community.
“This study will allow us to build a detailed picture of Americans of Polish descent in specific electoral districts. With such research – which no one has conducted before – we will be able to directly reach politicians in the United States and communicate which Polish issues are crucial to address so that Poles in the U.S. will support particular candidates in the elections this fall”, indicated Michał Rachoń, Program Director of TV Republika.
The study will help answer key questions, including how many people of Polish origin actually live in the United States, what they do, where they live, how strong their ties to Poland are, whom they support, and how they view relations between Poland and the United States.
A Pioneering Study
This will be the first large-scale, comprehensive, and professional study concerning the Polish diaspora and people of Polish origin in the United States. It will be carried out in cooperation with a reputable and experienced U.S.-based social research institute.
As a result, an extensive report will be produced, containing statistical analysis and expert conclusions.
“Poles and people of Polish origin in the United States can form one of the most effective lobbies defending Poland’s national interest. For decision-makers in Poland and the United States to realistically take the potential of the Polish diaspora into account, data is needed – reliable, professional, and widely communicated. This study aims to fill that gap”, the organizers indicate.
