A Moving Post by Karol Nawrocki’s Son: “Dad Helped Mr. Jerzy for Years”

Daniel Nawrocki, the son of presidential candidate Karol Nawrocki, shared an emotional post online addressing the controversy surrounding an apartment purchased by the Nawrocki family from Jerzy Żywicki. In the post, Daniel emphasized the years of support his father gave to the elderly man.

In recent weeks, Polish media has been abuzz with reports from Onet, which revealed that presidential hopeful Karol Nawrocki owns two apartments and implied he had acquired a 28-square-meter studio under unclear circumstances. In response, Nawrocki’s campaign released both Żywicki’s will and a notarized deed. Nevertheless, political opponents continue to use the matter to attack the candidate supported by the Law and Justice (PiS) party. Today, Nawrocki announced that the disputed apartment will be donated to charity.

Daniel Nawrocki addressed the issue publicly, beginning with a personal note:
“Karol Nawrocki is not my biological father, but he was, is, and always will be my Dad.”

“We met when I was two and he was twenty. At the time, I lived with my mother in a single small room while she studied and worked hard. Dad came into our lives like a ray of sunshine—first as ‘Karol’ or ‘uncle,’ but eventually as Dad. He took me to my first football match, on my first vacation with Mom, and on my first trip abroad. Eventually, he invited us to live with him. Even though we all shared one room, it was the beginning of our family,” Daniel wrote.

He went on to recall the nature of their bond—judo training sessions, stories about patriotism, and above all, his father’s compassion for those in need.

“Since childhood, I watched him reach out to the needy—whether it was a family member, a friend, one of my friends, or a complete stranger. Like the time we gave a ride home after a late mass in Gdańsk to an elderly man struggling through life but radiant in faith and spirit. When Dad sees someone in need on the street, he never walks past. He always tells me and my siblings that such people carry heavy, difficult stories—and if we can help, we must. He shares food, leaves money, offers conversation—he gives what he has, from the heart, not for the cameras,” Daniel said.

“Dad Helped Mr. Jerzy for Years”

Daniel also spoke about Jerzy Żywicki—the man from whom the Nawrocki family acquired the apartment that has now been given to charity.

“I remember going to the store with Dad to buy him a TV, carrying his grocery bags, visiting him at Easter to bring a gift and offer wishes. He had no one else—just Karol Nawrocki, his neighbor. No one else cared. Dad helped Mr. Jerzy for years—not for praise, but because it was the right thing to do. That’s what he taught me—empathy, which has become one of the most important values in my life,” Daniel shared.

“I’ve read the lies and manipulations about my Dad. The accusations that don’t reflect the truth hurt—because I know him best. He’s the man who gave me a home, love, and the belief that I can be better. A man who shows me every day what it means to be a decent person. Dear friends, don’t be misled by lies and distortions. Get to know Karol Nawrocki as I do—my Dad, who teaches me that life is worth living for others,” Daniel concluded.
