A one-on-one Nawrocki-Tusk meeting took place. It was confirmed by the government spokesperson

Government spokesperson Adam Szłapka informed the media that Prime Minister Donald Tusk spoke on Monday morning in Gdańsk with President Karol Nawrocki on the occasion of the anniversary of the outbreak of World War II. “A one-on-one meeting took place, among other things regarding the president’s visit to Washington,” he stated.

On Monday morning, the president and the prime minister took part in the 86th anniversary commemorations of the outbreak of World War II at Gdańsk’s Westerplatte. Among those attending the ceremony were, among others, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of National Defense (MON) Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, and Speaker of the Sejm Szymon Hołownia.

The meeting between the prime minister and the president was first reported, citing unofficial sources, by a private television station. Szłapka confirmed to the Polish Press Agency (PAP) that the one-on-one meeting did take place on the sidelines of Monday’s commemorations at Westerplatte, and that one of the topics was Karol Nawrocki’s upcoming visit to Washington.

From Westerplatte, the president traveled to Wolanów near Radom to attend the inauguration of the school year at a local school. He then went to Września, where anniversary commemorations of the outbreak of World War II are being held today.

Karol Nawrocki will visit Washington on Wednesday, September 3, at the invitation of U.S. President Donald Trump. This will be the president’s first foreign visit. The next destinations will be the Vatican, where he will meet with Pope Leon XIV, followed by Lithuania and Finland.
