Politicians from Karol Nawrocki’s circle claim that the upcoming inauguration will be the most spectacular event of its kind ever organised. It’s not just about the president marching alongside voters or mobilising PiS supporters.
According to the news portal wp.pl, Karol Nawrocki has no intention of confining himself to his office. “He’s going to be a hands-on president,” explains an anonymous source. One of the key plans right after the inauguration is a tour around Poland, expected to last several weeks. In each county, Nawrocki plans to speak about draft legislation he intends to submit to the Sejm for adoption.
Unprecedented Mobilisation of the “Righteous”
He plans to celebrate the inauguration with thousands of Poles who will gather in the capital.
According to a PiS politician, the mobilisation isn’t about organising buses and transporting crowds. “It’s our grassroots supporters who want to mobilise. People are calling, visiting MPs’ offices, asking how and when to organise for the inauguration, where to go, whether they should arrange transportation themselves or if the party will help,” he explains. Another politician says that on that day, Warsaw is to be awash in white and red flags.
Journalists report that, according to one source, party leader Jarosław Kaczyński expects exceptional mobilisation. August 6 is supposed to bring about “the most spectacular presidential inauguration in history.”
August 6 – A Day When Much Will Happen
Wirtualna Polska has obtained the schedule for the event. The ceremonies are set to begin at 10:00 AM, when the president will be sworn in before the National Assembly.
At 12:00 PM, a Holy Mass is scheduled to take place in the Warsaw Archcathedral, followed by official events at the Royal Castle at 2:00 PM. At 4:30 PM, the president will assume Command over the Armed Forces during a ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Piłsudski Square.
Afterwards, President Karol Nawrocki, accompanied by a crowd, will walk on foot to the Presidential Palace, without a motorcade. “Like a president of the people,” says someone involved in the preparations.
Nationwide Tour Soon After the Inauguration
An intensive tour of counties is planned, during which the president is expected to announce his legislative initiatives. “We’ll bombard the government with proposals, force Tusk to get to work,” Nawrocki’s associates tell reporters. Plans also include convening the Cabinet Council to discuss, among other topics, migration policy, expected to take place in August.
One of WP’s sources says that the future president does not want to be a bureaucrat barricaded in his office. He intends to be a president with character; one who speaks to the people and listens to their voices.
