Almost immediately after Karol Nawrocki’s victory in the presidential election was announced, voices began to emerge questioning the legitimacy of the result. “Let us, the voters, not give in! Let us not allow the remnants of democracy and freedom that remain after December 13, 2023, to be taken from us!” urged Andrzej Duda, President of the Republic of Poland, via social media.
Posts alleging supposed electoral irregularities have surfaced online, with the topic being amplified by media outlets sympathetic to the ruling coalition.
However, the December 13 Coalition and the media that support it are facing strong resistance from the Polish people, who, in accordance with democratic principles, elected a new president.
President Andrzej Duda has also joined in opposing attempts to “manipulate” the outcome of the election. In a post on X, he issued a call to his fellow citizens:
“There is a growing sense that post-communist forces, in concert with liberal-left circles, are attempting to overturn the outcome of Poland’s most recent presidential election and rob us of our freedom of choice. Let us, the voters, not give in! Let us not allow the remnants of democracy and freedom that remain after December 13, 2023, to be taken from us! Let us stand guard over Poland!”
