Adam Borowski sentenced. Despite this, he assures: “The scoundrels will not win!”

“Unfortunately, we do not know what further sacrifices will come, what will befall us. Us, Poles, who have this gene of freedom, who want an independent state. Perhaps the sacrifices will be greater, but we cannot stop, in any way. We are a relay, we received our homeland from our ancestors. We must pass it on to our descendants – strong, beautiful, developing. We must do it. And we will!” said Adam Borowski, an anti-communist hero, who received a six-month prison sentence for criticizing Roman Giertych.

The head of the Warsaw Gazeta Polska Club and legendary anti-communist opposition activist, Adam Borowski, was sentenced to six months of unconditional imprisonment for criticizing Roman Giertych. Borowski is recovering from a stroke, suffers from cancer, and according to the court, must go to prison for the words he spoke about Giertych.

Adam Borowski: The scoundrels will not win

Adam Borowski participated today in a solidarity demonstration with Fr. Michał Olszewski and former Ministry of Justice officials. Outside the Warsaw court building, he was asked about the repressions against him.

“I expected this, really. For me, it is no surprise. If a person fights for Poland, for justice, they must expect persecution. But I came here today – just for a moment – because I still have a fever, but I had to come to express solidarity with Father Michał, with Karolina and Urszula. I see here the Solidarity banner from Katowice, from 1981. That is my beloved union. I think this is a moment to return to those values, to human solidarity. We must do this so that no one is alone, so that these women are not alone, so that the priest is not alone.” said Adam Borowski.

The head of the Warsaw Gazeta Polska Club admitted: “I wanted to thank everyone, really everyone, immensely. I have received such a wave of support, of solidarity, that I really did not expect. I am very moved, because it only shows that what I do serves the Poles. It shows that there is strong support for what I do. I believe that we will overcome this government. And these persecutions will end – sooner or later.”

And we will!” he emphasized.

And he added: “The scoundrels will not win!”

As he admitted, the whole situation “only speaks about the government. Between December 13, 1981, and December 13, 2023, there are differences. Now we can talk – then we did not have that chance. Nevertheless, we still have free media and we can speak out. But it is also certain that we are on a very dangerous path toward an authoritarian state. Unfortunately, this is happening before our eyes. We are experiencing it. Many politicians, journalists from TV Republika, for example, are experiencing it. Giertych announces that he will go after Tomasz Sakiewicz, the head of the largest news station.”

“I know very well that neither Tomek will take a step back, nor will I take a step back. Tens of thousands of people will not take a step back, because we love our homeland. Because we simply love it. We have a president who loves it too, who says: first Poland, first the Poles. We will win!” he concluded.
