Adoption of children by same-sex marriages is the “next step.” This was confirmed by Tomasz Trela [VIDEO]

First same-sex marriages, and then adoption of children? “This is the next step” – announced today by New Left MP Tomasz Trela. “After all, this is a standard where we should not interfere in how people live and who lives with whom”, he said.

Let us recall: at the end of March, the Supreme Administrative Court of Poland overturned the ruling of the Warsaw administrative court as well as an earlier decision refusing to enter into the civil status register a same-sex “marriage” of Polish citizens concluded abroad. At the same time, it obliged the head of the Warsaw Civil Registry Office to transfer such a record into the Polish register – giving 30 days to do so.

The ruling followed last year’s judgment of the Court of Justice of the European Union, which answered a legal question referred by the NSA in connection with this case.

Recently, the Voivodeship Administrative Court in Lublin examined a complaint by two women who had been refused transcription of their marriage certificate, i.e. the transfer of a foreign civil status document into the Polish register.

The court ordered the head of the Civil Registry Office in Lublin to carry out the transcription into the Polish register of a marriage lawfully concluded by two women in July 2023 in Portugal. A deadline of 30 days from the return of the administrative files was set for fulfilling this obligation, which will occur once the ruling becomes final.

Earlier, in October 2023, the head of the Lublin registry office refused to enter the record into the national civil status registers. The women appealed this decision to the Lublin Voivode, who upheld it on December 6, 2023. The case then went to the administrative court.

Trela: adoption of children is the “next step”

Tomasz Trela, an MP of New Left, appeared today on RMF FM. Asked about the issue of same-sex marriages, he said:

“After all, it is quite a natural situation that if same-sex couples get married in Germany or another European Union country, then why shouldn’t they get married in Poland? After all, this is a standard where we should not interfere in how people live and who lives with whom.”

He was then asked about the adoption of children by same-sex couples. The New Left politician did not hide that “it is the next step.”

“This is the next step – first let us resolve this issue. First, I would like to ensure that everyone is respected, everyone is equal, and everyone lives as they wish,” was his response.
