Aggressive migrants at the Belarus border. A Polish soldier injured by a grenade

“At the Polish-Belarusian border, while preventing an illegal border crossing by migrants, a Polish soldier was injured on Monday evening. A flash-bang grenade exploded and the soldier sustained a hand injury” – said Lt. Col. Magdalena Kościńska from the Operational Command of the Armed Forces (RSZ).

The incident took place on Monday just after dusk, around 8 p.m. Near the town of Czeremcha, a group of illegal migrants attempted to break through the border. They reacted aggressively to the intervention of the soldiers present.

A soldier from the Podlasie Task Force sustained injuries. During the use of direct coercive measures, he suffered trauma to his left hand. First aid was administered at the scene. He was then immediately transported to a hospital in Białystok, where he received specialized medical assistance – the Operational Command of the Armed Forces reported this morning.

It was assured that the soldier’s condition is stable and his life is not in danger.

“At the scene, the investigation is being carried out by the Military Police” – explained the Operational Command of the Armed Forces in a statement.

At the scene, the investigation is being conducted by the Military Police.
