“Stop Immigration” – under this slogan, demonstrations opposing the mass influx of illegal immigrants into Poland take place today at noon in 80 Polish cities. This phenomenon has clearly intensified in recent weeks, and with the government’s inaction, citizens have taken matters into their own hands, organising themselves to safeguard the integrity of Poland’s borders. “Let us loudly say ENOUGH! Enough of ignoring the voice of the people, enough of putting our and our loved ones’ health and lives at risk in the name of ‘political correctness’!” the organisers appeal.
According to police data, as of 12:00 PM on July 19, 100 public gatherings had been registered across Poland. Protests under the slogan “Stop Immigration” are expected to take place in 80 cities nationwide, including Warsaw, Kraków, Wrocław, Łódź, Poznań, Gdańsk, Lublin, and Białystok.
The events are organised by the Confederation party, and are also supported by various nationalist, patriotic, and football fan communities.
“We are responding to the expectations of Poles who want to express their opposition to mass migration, the influx of immigrants from Germany, our country’s adoption of the Migration Pact, and all the leftist political correctness,” said Bartłomiej Pejo of Confederation.
The organisers state that the demonstrations are also a form of protest against the government’s incompetence in handling illegal immigration. “Enough of ignoring the voice of the people, enough of putting our and our loved ones’ health and lives at risk in the name of ‘political correctness’!” they state.
Patriotic groups have long opposed the phenomenon of illegal, mass immigration, which they argue has led to catastrophic and irreversible consequences in Western Europe.
Football fans have also expressed and continue to express this opposition. On Friday, Cracovia and Lech fans jointly marched through Poznań in protest against illegal migration.
Law and Justice (PiS) MP Dariusz Matecki appealed to today’s demonstration participants to avoid any “provocations, aggression, or extremely vulgar slogans.” In some cities, left-wing groups have announced counter-demonstrations.
