Ambassador Mark Brzezinski Concludes Diplomatic Mission in Poland

Mark Brzezinski has officially concluded his tenure as the U.S. Ambassador to Poland, after three years of strengthening bilateral ties between the two nations. The announcement was made via the official U.S. Embassy in Warsaw’s social media channels on Monday. Until the arrival of a new ambassador, Daniel Lawton will serve as Chargé d’Affaires.

Brzezinski, who took office in January 2022, reflected on the successes of his tenure, noting that U.S.-Poland relations had grown closer than ever before. He highlighted shared commitments to security, democracy, and a better future, with particular emphasis on the strengthening of Poland’s security, accelerated energy transformation, and the country’s role as a NATO leader in the wake of Russia’s unprovoked invasion of Ukraine.

In his farewell message, Brzezinski expressed his deep connection to Poland, calling it “a true second home.” He expressed confidence that the bond between the two countries will continue to grow and evolve. “The future is full of possibilities, hope, and promise,” he said.

Brzezinski’s resignation was made public in late November, and he officially stepped down on January 20. During his time in Warsaw, Brzezinski helped navigate critical moments in international diplomacy, particularly in regard to Russia’s aggression toward Ukraine.

Until a new ambassador is confirmed, Daniel Lawton will lead the embassy. The official U.S. Embassy account in Warsaw will continue to share updates related to diplomatic affairs.

Additionally, Brzezinski’s personal Twitter account, which was previously active during his tenure, will remain inactive until a successor is appointed and arrives in Poland.
