MEP Anna Zalewska, speaking on Radio Republika, presented a series of critical remarks concerning, in particular, wind farms, as well as upcoming international agreements on agriculture. She strongly warned against the influence of lobbyists, calling wind installations a “green scam” and “fraud”, while also pointing to the dangers they pose to Polish farmers.
Anna Zalewska began her statement with an alarming remark about the National Recovery Plan (KPO). As she emphasized: “Lobbyists, companies with founding capital of 5,000, are already present in every municipality and are waiting to quickly waste the KPO funds.”
She then focused on criticizing wind energy, pointing to a range of negative consequences of their construction. Wind farms drastically reduce the value of real estate.
She also highlighted an ecological paradox: “No one says that putting up such wind turbines means massive concretization. Not to mention CO2 emissions during the construction of wind farms.”
According to Zalewska, Minister Hennig-Kloska is “a hostage of lobbyists”, and the operational mechanism of wind companies is harmful to landowners.
“Wind companies make enormous profits and are like a noose around the neck, because it is the property owner who is responsible for everything, not the one who owns the wind farm,” she explained.
Zalewska also questioned the economic justification for the development of wind energy, claiming that “Wind leaders have the most expensive electricity in Europe.” She added that “Wind farms are the cheapest because they are the most subsidized. If it were profitable, there would be no need to subsidize it. This is a green scam.” She also stressed that installing a wind farm “does not make up for the loss caused by CO2 emissions during its construction, especially with the level of wind conditions we have. This is all a fraud.” The MEP also warned of corruption at the local level, pointing to “huge amounts of money under the table, including for councilors who are supposed to vote on zoning changes.”
Referring to the bill on freezing electricity prices, Anna Zalewska expressed hope for its swift adoption, provided it is transparent:
“If the bill is good, about freezing electricity prices, without controversy, then we have the Sejm, the Senate, and the President of the Republic signing it immediately. As long as it is free from lobbyists.”
At the end of her statement, the MEP focused on upcoming trade agreements which, in her view, pose a serious threat to Polish agriculture. “In my opinion, the entry of the agreement with the Mercosur countries is a foregone conclusion. The Polish Ministry of Agriculture has already accepted it,” Zalewska stated. She expressed equally strong concern about the planned agreement with Ukraine.
“In September, after the harvest festival, they will reveal the agreement with Ukraine. Under the slogan that we support Ukrainian agriculture because there is a war. Meaning 90 Ukrainian oligarchs, not the people. This is a dramatic situation for European, and above all Polish, farmers,” summarized Anna Zalewska.
