Another Blow to the Prosecution: Court Drops Case Against Gajadhur

“The truth has prevailed! Another disgrace for the head of the Road Transport Inspection, Artur Czapiewski, and the Minister of Infrastructure, Dariusz Klimczak,” announced former Chief Inspector of Road Transport, Alvin Gajadhur, on Monday. The prosecution had sought to punish him for allegedly unlawfully disclosing official information. The accusations proved to be unfounded – a fact confirmed by the court of second instance.

The indictment against Gajadhur was submitted to the court in March of this year. The former Chief Inspector of Road Transport was accused of unlawfully revealing official information.

That information concerned, among other things, the total expenses incurred by the Road Transport Inspection (GITD) related to the participation of invited guests at the agency’s 20th-anniversary gala, as well as costs connected to GITD promotional campaigns.

The prosecution at the time claimed that the published data constituted “internal information intended solely for official use.” Gajadhur faced up to two years in prison.

“The truth has prevailed”

However, less than three months after the indictment was filed, the court deemed it groundless. According to the first-instance court, none of the published materials qualified as classified information. Both the prosecution and the GITD authorities appealed this decision.

On Monday, the news outlet wp.pl reported that the Warsaw Regional Court upheld the first-instance ruling, stating that the allegations raised by the prosecution and GITD did not justify continuing the trial.

“The appellate court fully upheld the devastating critique of the indictment formulated by the court of first instance,”

said Gajadhur’s defense attorney, Krzysztof Wąsowski.

The accused himself also commented on the outcome:

“The TRUTH has prevailed! Yet another DISGRACE for ITD Chief Artur Czapiewski and Minister of Infrastructure Dariusz Klimczak,”

he declared.
