Following the scandal in Kłodzko, another high-profile arrest has taken place. A court has ordered a three-month pre-trial detention for Stanisław K. – a well-known community activist from Nowa Ruda, a town located in Kłodzko County. As in the case of Kamila L., a political thread has also emerged.
Police detained a well-known activist in Nowa Ruda who worked with children. The town has been buzzing with rumors – as reported on Friday, citing information from three journalists: Marcin Rosiński, Marcin Torz, and Janusz Życzkowski.
The Tuesday after the holidays brought more details to light. Stanisław K., a well-known activist from Nowa Ruda (Kłodzko County), has been detained. The court decided that he will spend the next three months in custody. He has already been charged with pedophilia-related offenses and will await trial in detention.
According to reports by Marcin Torz, K. had for years headed a foundation and ran a community center for the youngest residents of Nowa Ruda. He organized activities for them, including trips and summer camps. In his town, he enjoyed an unblemished reputation; many parents willingly entrusted their children to his care. As the journalist reports, authorities possess evidence that between February 9 and 20, he led a girl under the age of 15 into other sexual acts. The evidence presented by investigators was strong enough for the court to decide on placing the man in custody. It is not ruled out that new circumstances may emerge in the case.
K. was also involved in local government, running from various electoral lists and maintaining ties with political circles. In 2006, he ran for the municipal council from a left-wing coalition list, and in 2018 from the list of Law and Justice (PiS).
Just a week before his arrest, he took part in an event organized by his foundation, which was also attended by the mayor of Nowa Ruda, Tomasz Kiliński of Civic Platform (KO), a protégé of Deputy Marshal of the Sejm Monika Wielichowska.
For the alleged acts, K. faces up to 15 years in prison.
