The name of Kamil Sokół, a pathomorphologist at Southern Hospital in Warsaw, surfaced in connection with the recordings made in the hospital’s morgue. Janusz Cieszyński announced that the physician has lost his position.
The recordings, published by the Zero portal, captured conversations between employees of Southern Hospital’s morgue discussing the death of an emergency department (ER) patient who was found dead in a bathroom several hours after the incident.
An autopsy was supposed to determine the cause of the patient’s death. However, the recordings suggest that medical staff discussed and appeared to agree on the examination’s findings before it had even been carried out.
Among those conducting the autopsy was pathomorphologist Kamil Sokół, whose signature appeared on the official autopsy report. During the conversation, former morgue coordinator Artur Habowski addressed him, saying, “This is a bit of a mess. We need to make it so there isn’t any mess.”
“Sure, okay, then at least print out the discharge summary for me,” the doctor replied.
Hospital Terminated His Contract
Janusz Cieszyński stated that the physician has also been dismissed from the National Cancer Institute. The member of parliament received this information in response to an official inquiry. The reply emphasized that “the Institute’s management is continuously reviewing and monitoring reports related to the incident in question.”
The statement further noted that a meeting had been held with the doctor “and a decision was made to terminate the civil-law contract under which he had been employed.”
