“Another lie by Tusk collapses” – Wave of comments after the prosecutor’s decision on the Two Towers case

“Another carefully constructed lie by Tusk and the media serving him has collapsed,” said Rafał Bochenek, MP of the Law and Justice Party (PiS). The politician commented on the discontinuation of the investigation into the “Two Towers” case. In his view, the case was “created by the media in order to manipulate society and enable Tusk’s return to power”.

The Warsaw Regional Prosecutor’s Office (Prokuratura Okręgowa w Warszawie) has discontinued the high-profile proceedings concerning the so-called “Two Towers”. As reported by Jakub Pilarek of Radio Wnet, the decision was made by prosecutor Małgorzata Szeroczyńska.

The journalist reported that the investigation was closed without any charges being brought. Radio Wnet indicates that key importance was attached to findings showing a lack of grounds for further proceedings.

According to unofficial information from Radio Wnet, the reason for discontinuing the case was the conclusion that “the act was not committed or there is insufficient evidence reasonably justifying suspicion that it was committed”, i.e. Article 17 § 1 point 1 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, – the station reported.

“Another carefully constructed lie by Tusk collapses”

Rafał Bochenek, MP of the Law and Justice Party (PiS), commented on the prosecutor’s decision in a post published on X.

“Another carefully constructed lie by Tusk and the media serving him has collapsed! The so-called Two Towers case and alleged crimes around it were created by the media in order to manipulate society and enable Tusk’s return to power… Poles, open your eyes! You are being deceived at every step!” – the politician said.

The prosecutor’s decision was also commented on by attorney Bartosz Lewandowski.

“I am curious how much additional money this investigation cost, in which it was already once concluded that there was no crime, which was later confirmed by the Regional Court in Warsaw. For every criminal lawyer, the lack of elements of an offence was obvious. Another alleged ‘scandal’ in which the prosecution was engaged in grilling political opponents of the ruling authorities,” he assessed.

Publicist Rafał Ziemkiewicz pointed out that “even this prosecutor’s office could not fail to admit that the so-called Two Towers scandal was pulled out of thin air”.

MP Paweł Jabłoński noted that prosecutor Małgorzata Szeroczyńska, who led the investigation, “is one of the leading figures of the Lex Super Omnia association, extremely critical of the Law and Justice Party (PiS) governments, and that Adam Bodnar appointed her at the very beginning of Tusk’s government to the National Council of Prosecutors”.

Roman Giertych must have sensed that such a decision would be made – because he has been consistently attacking it for some time, even filing an unfounded motion to exclude her. All in vain. Well: if it doesn’t work, it doesn’t work, – he emphasized.

  • “Another success of accountability. This scandal was so far-fetched that even a moderately intelligent preschooler could predict the outcome”,
  • “This is already Giertych’s second defeat in the alleged ‘Two Towers’ scandal. You can hear the wailing of little engines. You’ve got nothing on the Boss”,
  • “Giertych and Dubois torn to shreds by the prosecutor. It will probably soon turn out that the prosecutor’s office is pro-PiS”,
  • “Roman Giertych boasted that he would ‘take down’ Jarosław Kaczyński in the ‘Two Towers’ case, and here we are – the case is discontinued. It must be admitted that Giertych is a ‘strong’ player”.
