Researchers from the Faculty of Polish and Classical Philology at Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań have developed a groundbreaking online tool, “APOCRYPHA,” dedicated to the study of Old Polish apocryphal texts. This database offers new transliterations and transcriptions, allowing in-depth analysis and exploration of these significant religious writings.
Comprehensive Features
APOCRYPHA provides access to Latin sources, Slavic contexts, thematic explorations, as well as grammatical and lexical annotations. Users can utilize a lexical index, grammatical annotations, and explore parallel passages and themes. The tool also includes foreign language sources of Polish apocrypha and earlier transcriptions of Polish works, making it an essential resource for scholars.
Significance for Polish Studies
Led by Dr. hab. Dorota Rojszczak-Robińska, the team has meticulously examined over 2000 pages of manuscripts and early prints, offering unprecedented insights into Polish religious language and literature. This project, funded by the NCN, deepens our understanding of early Polish religious discourse and medieval spirituality.
