Are These Court Decisions Lifelines for Civic Platform? Sakiewicz on Distraction Tactics That Divert Our Attention

The decision to impose a prison sentence on Adam Borowski, as well as the verdict in the case of a repugnant sexual crime against children in Kłodzko committed by an activist of the ruling party, are “lifelines” for Civic Platform (KO). “I fear that this and many other cases are meant to divert attention and paralyze protests against the rapidly rising fuel prices. Donald Tusk likes to sacrifice someone,” said Tomasz Sakiewicz in an interview with the Niezalezna portal.

Tomasz Sakiewicz commented in an interview with Niezalezna.pl on the announced final court decision to place Adam Borowski in prison for six months over a statement that offended Roman Giertych.

He assessed that, similarly to the case involving pedophilia and zoophilia, for which a Civic Platform (PO) activist from Kłodzko was sentenced, these are “lifelines” for the ruling coalition.

Diverting Attention

He admitted that these are distraction topics affecting only a narrow group of people.

“Price increases affect all of us. I fear that this and many other cases are meant to divert attention and paralyze protests against the rapidly rising fuel prices. Donald Tusk likes to sacrifice someone – we have already seen such situations, where he stirs up conflict, operates through provocation to divert attention, and the victims are real. These are typically gangster-like methods – to create chaos and distract from real misfortunes, someone is taken as a scapegoat,” assessed the president of TV Republika.

When asked whether this means that an election campaign is already underway, he admitted that the dynamics of recent events have accelerated significantly and that early elections before the constitutional deadline can be expected.

“It may turn out that this government is running on very weak foundations and soon very few people will want to endorse what Donald Tusk is doing. It is a matter of a few months,” Sakiewicz added.

Among attempts to divert public attention from real problems, he listed, among others, the dispute over the Constitutional Tribunal and attempts to paralyze institutions, attacks on the Supreme Court, and efforts to undermine the results of the presidential election.
