Die-hard supporters of the Civic Coalition—with their newest recruit, Roman Giertych, at the forefront—are bending over backwards to figure out how to overturn the presidential election result. Yesterday, Justice Minister Adam Bodnar explained that Sejm Marshal Szymon Hołownia could refuse to acknowledge the decision of the Supreme Court’s Chamber of Extraordinary Review and Public Affairs confirming the presidential vote, because Bodnar claims, that chamber is “not a court within the meaning of the Constitution.” Interestingly, the very same chamber validated the 2023 parliamentary election results, and no one protested at the time.
Roman Giertych—now heading the “election oversight” effort after Rafał Trzaskowski’s defeat—keeps posting fresh entries online about alleged voting irregularities. Journalist Tomasz Lis is also active on the issue. Their activity has drawn the interest of media outlets backing the so-called “13 December coalition,” which have eagerly seized on the topic.
Yesterday, Justice Minister Adam Bodnar, speaking on the illegal TVP Info channel, outlined a scenario in which Sejm Marshal Szymon Hołownia could help undermine Karol Nawrocki’s presidency.
Bodnar asserted that the Supreme Court’s Chamber of Extraordinary Review and Public Affairs is not a court within the meaning of the Constitution and therefore … cannot rule on the validity of elections.
He also noted that an “incidental” statute—previously vetoed by President Andrzej Duda—would be an ideal solution.
Internet users point out that the same chamber Bodnar now calls unconstitutional confirmed the 2023 parliamentary election results, paving the way for the 13 December coalition to take power.
