“This statement contained everything that is most disgusting. It is not only a suggestion that President Lech Kaczyński was responsible for the Smolensk catastrophe. In my opinion, Donald Tusk’s circle has decided that the number one enemy is Karol Nawrocki. They have invested in this hate and do not want to waste it,” commented columnist Piotr Matczuk on TV Republika, referring to the recent scandalous words of Radosław Sikorski.
Sikorski attacked President Nawrocki
On Wednesday in London, a Polish-British treaty on partnership in the field of security and defense was signed. The document was signed by Prime Ministers Donald Tusk and Keir Starmer.
On the same day, President Karol Nawrocki said that he had not received any information from the government about the signed treaty and expressed the opinion that before making commitments on behalf of the Polish nation, it would be appropriate to inform the Presidential Chancellery and the President himself that such arrangements are being prepared.
The head of state’s statement was responded to by Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski. The Civic Platform (KO) politician attacked the President in scandalous terms.
“This is not only harmful to the state, it is dangerous. Because I remind you, there was already a president who usurped the right to make decisions that were not within his competences”, he said.
He added that “the president, as a passenger on a government plane, does not decide how that plane is piloted”.
These remarks by Sikorski were commented on by columnists in the program “Rewolwer” on TV Republika.

In my opinion, Donald Tusk’s circle has decided that the number one enemy is Karol Nawrocki. They have invested in this hate and do not want to waste it. This dispute is starting to take on a somewhat different character. We are moving toward a situation similar to the one before the Smolensk catastrophe”, assessed Piotr Matczuk.
Monika Borkowska, in turn, pointed out that “if someone believes that the reset policy has disappeared, one should consider who is opening champagne after Sikorski’s statement”.
“In this way, he has aligned himself with the Russian narrative regarding the Smolensk tragedy. He recalls how his team behaved at that time. They handed over the wreckage, they allowed the bodies to be desecrated”, she emphasized.
Ewa Bugała indicated that Sikorski’s words are “extremely scandalous”.
“In my opinion, one can read a certain threat in this. Words were spoken that there was already a president who ‘ended up that way’. Many people say this is disgusting. This cannot simply be left like that. Radosław Sikorski is known for this type of statement”, she said.
