TV Republika, the largest news station in Poland, has once again been taken off the air in the Polish parliament. The incident was reported by MP Andrzej Śliwka, who posted a video showing the moment the station’s signal was blocked on a parliamentary receiver.

It is unclear why Republika disappeared from the parliamentary TV system, but this is not the first time it has happened. The current government shows open contempt for freedom of speech and the basic principles of democracy. This is particularly evident when our journalists ask inconvenient questions.
The blocking of Republika’s signal by parliamentary services under the control of the Civic Platform party is seen as an attack by the regime on freedom of speech and on an independent, government-free media outlet. Republika is the largest news station in Poland, significantly outperforming other channels in this category.
In response to this situation, we have submitted the following questions to the Chancellery of the Sejm:
- Why was TV Republika’s signal blocked?
- Who made the decision to block TV Republika’s signal?
- Are signals from other TV stations also being blocked on parliamentary receivers?
