Attacks on TV Republika. Sakiewicz: Targeted blows against specific revenue sources are ongoing

“There are ongoing attacks on specific sources of Republika’s income—particular sponsors and advertisers. It means constantly engaging dozens of lawyers who have to represent us and draft legal filings. As a result, our revenues are shrinking while our costs are rising,” said Tomasz Sakiewicz on air at Telewizja Republika.

Tomasz Sakiewicz noted that there had been attempts to downplay the success of Telewizja Republika in Dallas during the CPAC summit. “This only shows how significant that success was. Those were great days for Republika, when the entire world of business and politics welcomed us on stage, welcomed us ahead of the President of Poland, whom we also introduced while speaking about CPAC in Poland,” editor Sakiewicz emphasized.

The editor-in-chief of Gazeta Polska also spoke about repeated summons for questioning by the prosecutor’s office.

“I sincerely sympathize with those prosecutors and police officers, because I must admit that sometimes they quietly let slip what they really think about the tasks they are required to carry out. I remember times—back during martial law—when there were police officers who joined believing they would be chasing criminals, only to later find themselves imprisoning my colleagues. Of course, we have not reached that point, and we should not exaggerate, but many already feel they are taking part in something they would rather not be involved in,” said Tomasz Sakiewicz.

Sakiewicz also addressed the financing of Telewizja Republika and the need for support from its viewers.

“There are ongoing attacks on specific sources of Republika’s income—its sponsors and advertisers. It requires the constant involvement of dozens of lawyers who must represent us and prepare legal documents. This leads to reduced revenues and increased expenses. The inspections of communication systems by the Office of Electronic Communications resemble something out of a dark comedy. I understand that isolated incidents can happen, but when there are a dozen of them every day, they are no longer incidents. We are practically living in meetings with lawyers,” he stressed.
