Bad News for Poland? Mbappe Aims to Play Against Poland

Kylian Mbappe, the star forward of the French national football team, has expressed his desire to play against Poland in the upcoming Euro 2024 match. This announcement was made by France’s head coach, Didier Deschamps, during a press conference ahead of Tuesday’s match in Dortmund.

Mbappe, who sustained a broken nose during France’s opening game—a 1-0 victory over Austria—was sidelined for the subsequent match against the Netherlands, which he watched from the bench. Despite this setback, the 25-year-old forward’s condition has been improving daily.

“His condition is improving every day. Today he is better than yesterday and the day before. Yesterday, he joined our training session. The bruise has healed well, and Kylian is getting used to wearing a mask,” Deschamps assured at the press conference.

Deschamps also mentioned that while the mask slightly limits Mbappe’s field of vision, modern technology has enabled the creation of the thinnest possible masks. “He wants to play. He wanted to play against the Netherlands, and he wants to play against Poland,” Deschamps added, though he stopped short of a definitive statement on Mbappe’s participation.

Midfielder N’Golo Kante also commented on Mbappe’s potential return, stating, “We all know Kylian’s qualities. It’s a big plus to have him in the team. He helped us win the match during today’s training. He was good, dangerous, and determined. He feels good, and I hope it will translate on the pitch tomorrow.”

As it stands, after two rounds in Group D, both the Netherlands and France have four points, Austria has three, and Poland is at the bottom with no points following defeats to the Netherlands (1-2) and Austria (1-3).

The Euro 2024 match between Poland and France will kick off on Tuesday at 6 PM in Dortmund.
