Bąkiewicz After Siemoniak’s Press Conference: “This Is Hybrid Warfare”

After the press conference, when Minister Siemoniak stepped away from the microphones, Robert Bąkiewicz, head of the Border Defense Movement, approached them.

“There was a time when the Polish state left us at the mercy of German services. I’m glad the Prime Minister made this decision, but it still gives us no peace of mind. Just a few days ago, we were told there was no need to reinstate border controls. We have documented evidence that the Polish government allowed German services to illegally transfer migrants across the border.

We are not militias or criminals. Today, we made the Polish government restore control at the border. We will continue to monitor the situation and support the officers when needed. We will point out illegal crossings—places where sometimes no one else seems to care. We found the body of a man in the border area who had been missing for a month. I wanted to speak with the minister face-to-face. Unfortunately, that didn’t happen.

Now they’re trying to pose as defenders of Polish officers, but we remember how they used to scorn the Polish uniform. We witnessed a crime taking place before our eyes, when Polish officers were accepting people without documents from German services. We want Polish services to be honored and respected—but without the hypocrisy I saw on the minister’s face today. We’ve had very good contact and cooperation with border guard officers. We won’t allow them to be systematically disrespected.”

Bąkiewicz emphasized that what’s happening now at the German border is hybrid warfare:

“It’s on a different scale than what’s happening on the Belarusian border, but the methods and potential consequences are the same.”

He also stressed:

“We are in the European Union as long as it benefits us. We didn’t join the EU to serve German interests.”
