New recordings have emerged in connection with the scandal at Southern Hospital in Warsaw. They concern a patient who was found dead in a restroom. In the recording, the mortuary coordinator and a doctor agree that they need to “make sure there’s no mess.” Before the autopsy, they discuss what the patient might have died from, while afterward, the family is told that the man’s heart gave out.
The affair began with reports concerning Dawid Kacprzyk, the coordinator of the emergency department at Southern Hospital and a Civic Coalition councillor representing Warsaw’s Ursus district. According to the reports, while completing his specialist training in anaesthesiology, he allegedly earned PLN 1.6 million at medical facilities last year. The hospital also reportedly operated a so-called VIP lounge. More recently, TV Republika reported on a scandal at the hospital mortuary: its coordinator was allegedly promoting a particular funeral home, while earlier media reports stated that he had published graphic photographs of human remains.
As it turns out, that was not the end of the affair. New recordings have now emerged that will undoubtedly shock the public. They were disclosed by Patryk Słowik and Jakub Styczyński.
New, shocking recordings. “This is a bit of a mess”
This time, the zero.pl news website obtained a recording concerning the death of a patient who died in a restroom and was not found until several hours later. The widely publicised case was discussed, among others, by Dr Emil Jędrzejewski. The recordings, however, cast new and shocking light on the entire affair.
It was decided that the patient’s autopsy would be conducted in the hospital mortuary. In the recording, the mortuary coordinator can be heard discussing the patient’s case with a doctor and telling him:
“This is a bit of a mess. We need to make sure there’s no mess.”
The doctor replies: “Okay, all right.” They then begin discussing what might have caused the patient’s death.
“I think it’ll be an aneurysm in the heart, with tamponade.”
“Sure, fine. At least print out the discharge summary for me.”
Mortuary coordinator Artur Habowski also expresses surprise that “the f**king prosecutor didn’t descend on the hospital over what the f**k they did.” The recording also includes the words: “The death certificate has been completed, but it’s f**ked up, because what were they supposed to put on it?”
The men also discuss the fact that staff should at least check every hour “whether all their patients are accounted for.” After the autopsy, the deceased man’s family also arrived at the mortuary.
“Let me be honest with you, ma’am: I haven’t seen such a diseased heart in a long time. Really. His heart was seriously diseased,” Habowski told the family when explaining their loved one’s death, even though they were surprised because the man had never suffered from a heart condition. Habowski also failed to tell the family that the man had not been found in the restroom until many hours later.
According to zero.pl, both the hospital and the Ministry of Health have remained silent regarding the shocking recordings.
