“The bank admitted there is a malfunction, but the malfunction only affects transfers to our account. Other transfers go through,” said Tomasz Sakiewicz on air at TV Republika, referring to problems with donations sent, among other methods, via QR code. He added that “unfortunately, we also have a very large number of unprocessed payments in the system,” which, according to his account, means that some transfers were rejected.
During the broadcast on TV Republika, the issue of problems with making donations to support the station was discussed. The introduction to the topic mentioned one of the available methods of support, a QR code displayed on the screen.
“One of the ways to support and help develop TV Republika is the code you can see all the time, namely the QR code, through which you can also send donations,”
it was stated during the program.
Tomasz Sakiewicz commented on the matter, reporting that the editorial office has been receiving reports from viewers.
“We have reports from people who tried, in one of the largest private banks, to send money via the QR code, and unfortunately were unable to do so. They have accounts in that bank and […] even their automatic transfers were being rejected,”
he said.
According to his statement, the bank confirmed the existence of the problem.
“The bank admitted there is a malfunction, but it only affects transfers to our account. Other transfers work. And the bank does not know when it will be resolved,”
he said.
Sakiewicz also mentioned earlier reports concerning the account used for donations.
“We had already received reports that in various places, people were being told that this account is not a valid one. It is a valid account, please save it, and until we say otherwise, this account is to be used for payments,”
he explained.
An appeal was made on air for viewers to verify whether the payment system is functioning.
“I have a strong request that you test on your end whether the QR code works, even with a very small amount,”
he said, adding that those experiencing problems should contact the station’s hotline.
As he noted, the editorial team wants to collect data on the scale of the issue.
“We will try to compile a report to assess the scale of this new attack, if it is an attack, or this new malfunction, if it is a malfunction,”
he stressed.
Sakiewicz also pointed to the number of failed transactions.
“Unfortunately, we also have a very large number of unprocessed payments in the system, which means they were bounced back. Please check whether they are going through,”
he said.
At the same time, he indicated that traditional bank transfers remain an alternative.
“Regular transfers are still working […] there have been no cases where standing orders have been blocked,”
he added.
He also referred more broadly to the situation surrounding the station.
“Unfortunately, we have to remain vigilant, because a lot is happening. Here the signal is cut off, there accounts are blocked, here there are further malfunctions (…) we are indeed dealing with an unbelievable number of coincidences,”
he said.
In conclusion, he appealed for viewers’ involvement.
“I can only appeal for your vigilance and your engagement. On the other side, there is a government that has already gone so far that if it ever loses power, many of them will probably have to stand trial,”
he concluded.
