Biedrzycka Apologizes to Anna Wójcik: “I Owe You a Correction – I Made a Mistake”

“I made both a methodological and factual mistake,” admitted Kamila Biedrzycka as she publicly apologized to Anna Wójcik for making a false statement on air, claiming that after Wójcik was released from custody, she “went straight to Republika.”

TV Republika had previously reported on the difficult situation Anna Wójcik was facing—connected to her child’s illness—while she was under investigation in the RARS case. Following this revelation, the prosecution decided to lift her temporary detention. She was instead placed under non-custodial preventive measures, including a bail set at 400,000 PLN. After her release, Wójcik called in to thank Republika TV viewers for their support.

However, Kamila Biedrzycka, a journalist associated with the state-run TVP, stated during a Super Express broadcast: “The prosecution concluded that due to her son, Ms. Anna W. could be released from custody, and then she got into a car and went to Republika.”

As recently as yesterday, Biedrzycka insisted she had no intention of apologizing. Today, she changed her mind.

“I owe you a correction because I misrepresented the truth. I made a methodological and factual error,” Biedrzycka said. “Therefore, I want to apologize to Ms. Anna W. and, of course, to you, the audience, for this misinformation.”

MP Paweł Jabłoński commented on the apology:
“It is very good that Ms. Kamila Biedrzycka chose to retract her statement and apologize. Ms. Anna Wójcik has authorized me to say that, in this case, we consider the matter closed. We encourage others who have spread similar falsehoods, slander, or insults against Ms. Anna and her family to follow this example. Doing so may prevent the need for further legal action.”
