Bishop bids farewell to New Left MP: “He possessed a rare gift”

“A man of an extraordinarily beautiful soul has left us. Łukasz Litewka possessed a rare gift of listening with the heart, which is why he approached the fate of the poorest and our ‘lesser brothers’ with such tenderness – those whose quiet suffering so often goes unnoticed by the world,” wrote Bishop Artur Ważny, ordinary of the Sosnowiec diocese, bidding farewell to MP Łukasz Litewka, who tragically died yesterday.

Early on Thursday afternoon, New Left (Nowa Lewica) MP Łukasz Litewka, who was traveling by bicycle, was struck by a 57-year-old driver of a Mitsubishi Colt. The incident occurred on Kazimierzowska Street in Dąbrowa Górnicza. Despite resuscitation efforts, the life of the 36-year-old parliamentarian could not be saved.

Łukasz Litewka was bid farewell by parliamentarians from various political camps, as well as, among others, the President of Poland, Karol Nawrocki.

The New Left (Nowa Lewica) politician was also honored with exceptional words by Bishop Artur Ważny, ordinary of the Sosnowiec diocese.

“A man of an extraordinarily beautiful soul has left us. Łukasz Litewka possessed a rare gift of listening with the heart, which is why he approached the fate of the poorest and our ‘lesser brothers’ with such tenderness – those whose quiet suffering so often goes unnoticed by the world. His everyday kindness and selfless commitment were a living testimony to the fact that a person’s true greatness is measured by the good they are able to offer to the weakest,” wrote Bishop Ważny.

He also assured prayers and closeness to the MP’s family, expressing hope that “the memory of his good heart will become a source of strength for his loved ones in these difficult moments.”
