“Blatant Crime Alleged” – Law and Justice (PiS) Moves Against Czarzasty, Files Prosecutor Complaint Over Illegal Swearing-In

Law and Justice (PiS) will file a criminal complaint against those involved in an illegal attempt to conduct a swearing-in ceremony in the Sejm, bypassing President Karol Nawrocki. The complaint will concern both Marshal Włodzimierz Czarzasty and the Constitutional Tribunal nominees themselves. The information was confirmed to niezalezna.pl by Law and Justice (PiS) spokesperson Rafał Bochenek.

Four judges elected to the Constitutional Tribunal in March this year by the Sejm are planning to take the oath tomorrow in parliament. According to the Constitution, the oath should be taken before the President of the Republic of Poland.

Speaking to Niezalezna.pl, the Law and Justice (PiS) spokesperson described the planned event as “a blatant crime, with no legal basis whatsoever.”

“What Marshal Czarzasty is planning to stage tomorrow in the Sejm by meeting with anti-judges illegally selected by the December 13 coalition is a blatant crime against the state system and democratic principles. This event has no legal basis, constitutes an usurpation of power, and only confirms that this coalition once again fails to respect constitutional provisions, introducing chaos and legitimizing lawlessness,” he said.

Bochenek also announced legal action – a notification to the prosecutor’s office.

“In light of the above, we will file a notification to the prosecutor’s office regarding the commission of a crime by all participants in this political staging,” he stated.

For now, the exact format of the meeting remains unclear. Representatives of parliamentary clubs have not yet received invitations. They too – if they attend the “swearing-in” and consider it binding – may be included in the complaint.
