Over the past 24 hours, the Polish Border Guard checked more than 11,200 individuals at border crossings with Germany. Seven people were denied entry into Poland.
No Incidents Reported
According to a Border Guard report from the Polish-German border, over 11,200 individuals and more than 4,800 vehicles were inspected at crossings with Poland’s western neighbor in the past day.
Lt. Col. Andrzej Juźwiak of the Border Guard reported that entry was denied to seven foreign nationals, including citizens of Cameroon, Brazil, and Sierra Leone.
The Border Guard also noted that there were no incidents. Police officers from three provinces-Lower Silesia, Lubusz, and West Pomerania-did not have to intervene. Vehicle traffic was smooth.
Border Checks Reinstated
On July 7, Poland reinstated temporary border controls with Germany and Lithuania. During these checks, Border Guard officers, supported by police and Territorial Defense Force soldiers, are authorized to randomly stop selected vehicles for inspection.
According to a regulation issued by the Ministry of the Interior and Administration, the controls will remain in place until August 5. During this period, there will be 52 operational border crossings with Germany, including 16 with permanent checks.
The government says these measures are necessary to reduce the uncontrolled flow of migrants.
