Borowski Responds to Kurski’s Post: “It’s Hard to Imagine a Greater Stupidity. I Must Stand Up in Defense of TV Republika”

“I must stand up in defense of TV Republika,” wrote Adam Borowski, a legendary anti-communist opposition activist and chairman of the Warsaw Club of Gazeta Polska, in an emotional tone. This was a reaction to yet another post by Jacek Kurski.

On the second anniversary of the takeover of public television by appointees of the December 13 coalition, former TVP president Jacek Kurski published a lengthy post in which he also mentioned TV Republika. This was another long post by Kurski in recent days—in a previous one he had attacked former Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki.

Kurski’s post was sharply criticized by a hero of the struggle for a free Poland, anti-communist opposition activist Adam Borowski.

“Three days ago I wrote a text titled ‘I Cannot Remain Silent’ in response to Jacek Kurski’s brutal attack on Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki. Today I must stand up in defense of TV Republika… The suggestions that the head of our television station, Tomasz Sakiewicz, reached an agreement with Tusk and that this is why the prime minister broke the Constitution and unlawfully seized public television so that Republika could grow stronger are as absurd as Giertych’s claim that the Kamraci Brothers took over the electoral commissions and falsified the presidential election. It is hard to imagine a greater stupidity…” Borowski wrote.

The head of the Warsaw Club of Gazeta Polska addressed an appeal to PiS politicians and to the broadly understood right wing.

“Enough quarrels, enough mutual attacks,” he wrote.

“We, social activists with conservative views, work hard and support you so that you can represent us with dignity. I travel across Poland, meet with your voters, and urge them to be active so that you can win the upcoming parliamentary elections. Neither I nor your voters understand these quarrels and games,” he added.

“We demand from you a tough fight against Donald Tusk’s anti-Polish government. Quarrels serve only him, a man of Germany and Russia in Warsaw. Remember this—remember that Poland’s sovereign existence is under threat… You have a duty to serve POLAND. That is all—and as much as that,” Borowski concluded.
