Brandin Podziemski, a talented shooting guard from Santa Clara University, has been selected by the Golden State Warriors as the 19th overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft. Known for his three-point shooting and off-ball defense, Podziemski impressed during the Draft Combine, securing a spot in the top 20 picks.

Podziemski, with Polish ancestry, expressed interest in representing Poland internationally. Fellow Polish NBA player Jeremy Sochan encouraged him to join the national team. Efforts are underway to secure Polish citizenship for Podziemski.

    NBA Journey and Development Opportunities

Joining the Golden State Warriors, Podziemski will develop alongside basketball legends like Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Chris Paul. His scoring ability and versatility promise to make a significant impact.

Administrative hurdles currently prevent Podziemski’s immediate participation with Poland. FIBA regulations limit the number of naturalized players. However, his debut is expected in the near future.

    Road to the Olympics

The Polish national team, led by coach Igor Milicic, begins their Olympic journey in a pre-qualifying tournament in Gliwice, Poland. The top two teams from the group stage will advance to the final phase alongside teams from Tallinn. The tournament winner secures a spot in the main Olympic qualification event in 2024.
