Budget Collapse. Opposition Calls: Enough of Incompetent Rule

“Tusk = bankruptcy. It’s time for ‘Tuskexit’ and a return of reliable and honest experts who will save the state budget from the looming catastrophe. Enough of the rule of disastrous incompetents who are destroying the achievements of 2015–2023,” wrote Mariusz Błaszczak, a Law and Justice (PiS) MP, on social media.

According to a mid-March statement by the Ministry of Finance, the state budget deficit after the first two months of 2026 amounted to PLN 48.5 billion.

“To grasp the scale of this phenomenon, it is enough to look at historical data. The United Right government recorded a deficit of PLN 10.4 billion for the entire year of 2018, PLN 13.7 billion in 2019, and in 2022—marked by economic shocks following the outbreak of war—just PLN 12.4 billion. Even in 2016, when the extremely costly ‘500 Plus’ program was introduced, the annual deficit amounted to PLN 46.3 billion. The current governing team has exceeded those full-year figures in just 60 days,” wrote Grzegorz Wierzchołowski on our website.

According to unofficial information, the deficit continues to grow at an alarming pace.

“As I learned from unofficial sources, by mid-March the state budget deficit had reached PLN 80 billion. We are seeing a deficit of PLN 1 billion per day—that’s how fast Poland’s debt is growing,” said Jarosław Olechowski, head of editors at TV Republika, on air yesterday.

Błaszczak: Enough of Incompetent Rule

In his latest post on platform X, PiS MP Mariusz Błaszczak stated that “the December 13 coalition has pushed public finances to the brink of collapse and, without any reflection—indeed quite eagerly—is heading in the same direction.”

“The shockingly large drop in tax collection is, on the one hand, confirmation of an economic slowdown, and on the other, an alarm signal confirming that tax mafias are returning to once again siphon off massive profits from our financial system—an eldorado for fraudsters will once again become the hallmark of the left-liberal ‘experts’ in power,” the post continues.

Błaszczak added: “Let’s say: STOP! Tusk = bankruptcy. It’s time for ‘Tuskexit’ and a return of reliable and honest experts who will save the state budget from the looming catastrophe. Enough of the rule of disastrous incompetents who are destroying the achievements of 2015–2023.”

Czarnek: Tusk = Bankruptcy

The issue was also addressed by PiS candidate for prime minister, Professor Przemysław Czarnek.

“In recent days, the intensity of Tusk’s lying has been directly proportional to the fear and the scandalous level of Poland’s debt—it’s hard to say which is growing faster. Tusk = bankruptcy!” he wrote.
