    Captain Zbigniew Sulatycki, a distinguished maritime engineer and public servant, passed away at the age of 91. He was a former Deputy Minister of Transport and Maritime Economy in Poland and played an important role in shaping the country’s maritime policies.

    A Lifelong Maritime Career

    Born on August 23, 1933, in Skarżysko-Kamienna, Sulatycki began his maritime journey in the 1950s. Despite challenges, including being expelled from the State Maritime School in Szczecin due to political reasons, he completed his education and rose through the ranks, eventually becoming captain for both Polish and foreign shipping lines.

    Dedication to Maritime and Public Service

    Sulatycki was also an influential figure in Polish public life, joining the Solidarity movement in 1980 and serving as an advisor and later Deputy Minister. In 1995, he founded the Polish Maritime Economic Association, where he served as president. His contributions were widely recognized, receiving prestigious awards, including the Order of Polonia Restituta.

    Sulatycki’s legacy lives on in his work for Poland’s maritime sector and public service.
