In a shocking turn of events, chaos and controversy marred the aftermath of the Conference League match between AZ Alkmaar and Legia Warsaw, which ended in a 1-0 victory for the Dutch side.
The trouble began when local police and security personnel decided to close off the stadium, purportedly to avoid clashes with departing groups of Legia Warsaw fans. This decision led to a heated confrontation with Legia representatives, including players, who found themselves struggling to access their team bus. Verbal altercations and shoving matches ensued.
Ultimately, the police cordoned off the vehicle carrying a significant portion of the Legia squad. Jarosław Jankowski, the president of Legia’s basketball division, recorded a video of the police physically assaulting Dariusz Mioduski, the club’s president, with a baton to the face.
