Continuation of Repressions – Judge Łubowski Removed from His Post! He Will Even Have to Vacate His Office

Judge Dariusz Łubowski has been removed from his position as head of the International Matters Section, the Niezalezna.pl portal has learned. Starting tomorrow, he will return to adjudicating “ordinary” criminal cases. The decision was reportedly to be delivered to him today. According to unofficial information, the new head of the section will be Judge Tomasz Grochowicz.

Judge Dariusz Łubowski of the Warsaw Regional Court had so far served as the head—and at the same time the only adjudicating judge—of the Section for International Proceedings in Criminal Matters involving international relations, operating within the 8th Criminal Division of the Warsaw Regional Court.

Since the decision to revoke the European Arrest Warrant issued against Marcin Romanowski, Judge Łubowski’s situation has deteriorated significantly, as he stated before the National Council of the Judiciary.

“I am experiencing situations that I have never encountered in my 30-year judicial career. I perceive these situations as harassment and repression. After the court’s spokesperson announced at a press conference that I had revoked the EAW, an hour later Minister Waldemar Żurek appeared at a press conference and allowed himself to comment on the criminal proceedings. He used blatant lies in this matter, also directed at me,” the judge said.

In addition, Judge Łubowski shared another piece of information, which he perceived as an attempt to “steer” the EAW case against Romanowski.

“For the first time in my more than 30-year judicial career, in August 2025—if I remember correctly, on August 12—one of the prosecutors handling the case, Prosecutor Dariusz Ślepokura, called me on my official phone. He said they did not know what to do with the case and that together with Prosecutor Piotr Woźniak they would like to come and discuss it with me ‘so that it would turn out well.’”
He added that he refused the meeting and informed his superior about everything.

As established by Niezalezna.pl, today Beata Najjar (acting president of the Warsaw Regional Court) decided that Judge Łubowski would be removed from his position as head of the Section for International Proceedings in Criminal Matters involving international relations within the 8th Criminal Division of the Warsaw Regional Court.

The written decision was reportedly to be delivered to the judge today, although we were unable to confirm this information. What we did confirm is that starting tomorrow Judge Łubowski will return to adjudicating “ordinary” criminal cases.

Interestingly, he will have to vacate his official office, which is why today there were frantic efforts at the Warsaw court to find a new office for Judge Łubowski.

According to our unofficial information, the new head of the section will be Tomasz Grochowicz. Born in 1957, he is 69 years old. This means the change will be only temporary, as he is expected to retire soon.

We contacted the civil matters spokesperson, Judge Sylwia Urbańska-Tkocz, but she was not aware of the situation. She did, however, ask us to send our questions.
