Media outlets supportive of the current government have still not come to terms with President Karol Nawrocki’s veto of the SAFE legislation. So much so that increasingly “interesting” theories are appearing on the air of TVP Info in liquidation.
President Karol Nawrocki decided to veto the law implementing the European Union’s SAFE defence loan programme. In the justification for the decision, the presidential office pointed, among other things, to the risk of undermining state sovereignty and transferring part of the competencies related to security to institutions of the European Union. SAFE is an EU loan programme intended to support European defence, from which Poland was expected to borrow around €44 billion. After the veto by the President of Poland, Karol Nawrocki, regarding the EU SAFE loan, the ruling camp launched a massive wave of criticism and attacks against the head of state.
Moreover, President Karol Nawrocki’s decision to veto the law concerning the SAFE programme triggered strong reactions on social media. However, an analysis of comments published on Facebook and the X platform indicates that the majority of participants in the discussion – 62 percent – support the veto.
Despite this, both the ruling camp and media outlets favourable to the government are trying in every possible way to undermine the president’s decision in the eyes of Poles.
What did TVP Info in liquidation come up with?
In the heat of attacks on the president, surprising words were heard today on TVP Info in liquidation. One of the station’s employees, speaking live to the studio, suddenly said:
“For now, it is not known what will happen to this money, so there is also great disappointment among local government officials [from the border areas of the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship – editor’s note], who say that there are residents who live in places where, in good weather, through the windows of their homes, they can see Russia. And that is also worrying.”
