CPAC Leaders After President Nawrocki’s Inauguration: It’s an Honor to Be in Poland Now

“We see courage and boldness in President Nawrocki, an openness to do things that European leaders tend to shy away from,” said Matt Schlapp, head of CPAC, in an interview with TV Republika.

Together with the American delegation, Mercedes and Matt Schlapp, husband and wife and heads of the world’s largest conservative conference, the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC), arrived in Warsaw to attend the inauguration of President Karol Nawrocki. At the end of their visit to Poland, they gave their only interview to Polish media on TV Republika.

“These were great moments. It’s an honor to be here in Poland and in this wonderful TV Republika studio,” said Mercedes Schlapp, summarizing the events surrounding President Nawrocki’s inauguration.

She emphasized that recent months have marked a period of intense cooperation between CPAC and TV Republika, because, as she put it, “TV Republika is critically important for delivering real information to the Polish people.”

“You are not alone. America and President Donald Trump respect the newly elected president. Today, Poland remains a critically important pillar of Europe within the North Atlantic Alliance,”

she added.

“It was you and the entire team at TV Republika who convinced me that Poland is worth focusing on,” Matt Schlapp said, addressing journalist Michał Rachoń directly.

“We’ve spent a lot of time in Hungary. I believe that country changed the political dynamic of Europe. Viktor Orbán voiced opposition on many issues, such as immigration, for which he was punished by the European Union. At first, no one in America understood it, but over time, we realized that it was a sign of courage,”

he said.

“We also see courage and boldness in President Nawrocki, an openness to do things that European leaders tend to shy away from,” the CPAC head commented.

He continued: “Poland has historically been a country that has shown courage, and the entire world watched you. The reason America has such a fondness for Poland is your resistance to communism. That was the greatest example of pure courage, and its embodiment was Saint John Paul II. Especially among Christians in America, Poland is admired.”

He noted, “All those people who took to the streets two days ago, peacefully demonstrating, singing, praying… those images reached America, because it truly is a sign that the time has come to take to the streets.”

“There is a growing conviction that people must show no one can take from America what makes it a great country,” said Matt Schlapp.

When asked about the main threats facing America, they pointed to the growing communist influence within the Democratic Party.

“My father was a political prisoner in Cuba during Fidel Castro’s dictatorship. Since childhood, my father taught us that freedom is very fragile. That one must fight for democracy and liberty, and that communism can very quickly take over a country. For you in Poland, this is very clear: oppression, media censorship, and using the justice system to combat the opposition. These are elements present in all communist countries,”

explained Mercedes Schlapp.

She emphasized that “Americans haven’t experienced this personally.”

“As a result, they didn’t think it could ever happen in the United States. The reality is that communists will continue to expand their influence; that is their plan. So, we must work together to stop the spread of globalism and communism. Power belongs to the people, and we must fight for that every day. That is our goal,”

she stressed.

“The Democratic Party in America has shifted from being a moderate, centrist party to embracing leftist, progressive, aggressive, and ultimately communist ideologies,” she said on TV Republika.

“The Democratic Party used to be liberal,” Matt Schlapp added.

“They had centrists who could be part of their coalition. There’s a huge difference between liberalism and the communist, leftist current. It’s brutal and destructive like a cancer. It’s sad that in America, one of the two major parties has adopted the idea of Marxism, an idea that has never worked anywhere,”

he concluded.
