A critical situation has unfolded at the Międzygórze reservoir on the Wilczka River and at the Stronie Śląskie reservoir on the Morawa River, with water levels rising rapidly due to a sudden influx. The Regional Water Management Authority (RZGW) in Wrocław issued an emergency alert just before midnight, reporting that water had begun overflowing at both dams. The water level at the Międzygórze monitoring station has reached 27 meters and is still rising, sparking widespread concern.
A dramatic video surfaced online late last night, showing water spilling uncontrollably over the Międzygórze dam. Authorities described the situation as “out of control,” warning that several downstream villages in Bystrzyca Kłodzka are at risk of flooding. Immediate evacuations have been ordered for residents in lower-lying areas.
The local flood protection system confirmed that the water level is continuing to rise, prompting officials to evacuate staff from the dam’s control tower and nearby residential areas. In response, Bystrzyca Kłodzka Mayor Renata Surma urged residents to evacuate early, as several hundred temporary shelters have been set up in schools and the Gorzanów Palace for those displaced by the flooding.
With the sewage treatment plant shut down, emergency measures are in place as authorities closely monitor the rapidly escalating situation.
