Dawid Kubacki finished third in the second competition of the Four Hills Tournament in Garmisch-Partenkirchen. The winner from Oberstdorf was Norway’s Halvor Egner Granerud, followed by Slovenia’s Anze Lanisek.
Granerud strengthened his lead in the 4-Hills-Tournament. On Sunday, he was 6.4 points ahead of Lanisek and 9.3 points ahead of Kubacki.
The top three already were the same after the first round. Granerud jumped 140 m in the first round and was only 0.6 points ahead of Lanisko, who reached 140.5 m. The loss of Kubacki (136.5 m) to the leader was 6.8 points.
In the final the Norwegian sealed the victory in great style. Kubacki jumped 138.5 m, Lanisek 137 m and he jumped 142 m.
The sixth place in the tournament went to Piotr Zyla. Kamil Stoch was ninth and Paweł Wąsek 22nd.
After the first round, 47th-placed Stefan Hula dropped out.
In the battle for the Golden Eagle, Granerud is 26.8 points ahead of second-placed Kubacki. The third-placed Zyla already loses 40.1 points to the leader.
In the overall World Cup Kubacki is still clearly in the lead. He is 88 points ahead of second-placed Lanisko. Third-placed Granerud is already 154 points behind the leader.
In the Nation’s Cup, Poland is second only to Austria, from which it is separated by 199 points.
Now it’s time for the Austrian part of the Four Hills Tournament. The competition in Innsbruck is scheduled for Wednesday, followed by Bischofshofen on Friday.
