Slovenia’s Timi Zajc delivered a stellar performance to claim victory in Saturday’s FIS Ski Jumping World Cup competition at the Heini Klopfer Ski Flying Hill in Oberstdorf. Zajc soared to impressive distances of 222 and 233 meters, earning a winning total of 453.7 points. This marks his fifth career World Cup win and fourth on the renowned Oberstdorf hill.
Norwegian Johann Andre Forfang, who led after the first round, secured second place with jumps of 221.5 and 235 meters but lost the lead due to a shaky landing, finishing 5.1 points behind Zajc. Fellow Slovenian Domen Prevc rounded out the podium with jumps of 217 and 231.5 meters, accumulating 444.9 points. Austria’s Daniel Tschofenig narrowly missed the podium, placing fourth.
The Polish contingent had a challenging day, with Piotr Żyła achieving the best result among them in 17th place after jumps of 205.5 and 215 meters for 400.6 points. Jakub Wolny (22nd), Aleksander Zniszczoł (28th), Kamil Stoch (32nd), and Paweł Wąsek (35th) struggled to keep up on the demanding hill. Both Stoch and Wąsek did not advance beyond the first round.
Zajc’s victory solidifies his dominance on the Oberstdorf “mammoth” hill, adding another chapter to his impressive ski flying legacy.
