Will a debate between Rafał Trzaskowski (Civic Coalition) and Sławomir Mentzen (Confederation) actually happen? Mentzen has been calling for it, but so far—no response.
Trzaskowski Attacks His Rival
The Civic Coalition is pulling out all the stops to secure victory for its candidate in the 2025 presidential elections—Rafał Trzaskowski, the vice-chair of the Civic Platform. While Trzaskowski positions himself as an “independent” candidate, the political reality is clear.
His campaign strategy relies on attacking his opponents. While he has mostly targeted Karol Nawrocki—the independent presidential hopeful—with little success, this time he has turned his sights on Mentzen. And he did so in an unexpected way—using a child who appeared at one of his campaign events.
Mentzen Pushes for a Debate
Mentzen fired back in the comments section, responding to the provocation:
“Mr. Rafał, instead of staged stunts with children, why don’t you set up a real debate with me—on your own TVN? ;)”
His response quickly racked up significantly more likes than Trzaskowski’s original post.
But that wasn’t the end of it.
Mentzen doubled down on X, repeating his challenge:
“TVN journalists are trying to convince people that I’m afraid of debates and interviews. I’m not. Organize a one-on-one debate between me and Rafał Trzaskowski, and I’ll gladly appear on TVN.”
He even added that the moderators could be anyone—“even Kraśko and Olejnik.”
Will Trzaskowski take the bait? The ball is in his court.
