“This is by no means the end of the National Recovery Plan (KPO), quite the opposite. It is the beginning,” wrote Kamila Gasiuk-Pihowicz. And one could say those were prophetic words. Joanna Scheuring-Wielgus also commented on the KPO scandal, advising “not to focus only on the message that tries to make a mountain out of a molehill, but to dig into the details a little”. She herself, however, seems not to have dug into them.
The KPO scandal is spreading wider and wider, and absurd subsidies for the HoReCa sector are shocking almost everyone with the grants awarded. On top of that come the results related to the KPO program concerning culture.
Politicians of the ruling coalition are trying to bend reality. However, it is hard for them to convince anyone with their comments that nothing has happened. Yet they keep trying persistently.
Doesn’t see a scandal
Joanna Scheuring-Wielgus stated that, for her, this is not a scandal. – “I believe we are dealing with a lot of disinformation, fake news, and the inflating of false information about something. In every situation, before we call something a ‘scandal’, we have to check the facts” – she emphasized in an interview with Onet.
The facts, however, speak for themselves – buying a yacht, funding a swingers’ club, or creating a virtual platform for learning bridge, when confronted with “receipt shock”, are difficult to defend. The Left MP added that “those who are blowing this situation up into some sort of scandal are playing on populist emotions to attack the government or score some political points”.
In an interview with the portal, Scheuring-Wielgus also criticized the statement by Civic Coalition (KO) MP Katarzyna Królak, assessing that the coalition is struggling with “handling communication and informing the public about certain issues”.
An example of this could be Kamila Gasiuk-Pihowicz’s post on platform X, where she announced that this is only the beginning of KPO. She stressed that the program “serves the Polish people”, but this was not met with understanding from commentators, who sharply criticized her position, giving specific examples. And as her coalition colleague pointed out – “we have to check the facts”.
