Drones Near the Polish Border. Alert in Volhynia, Polish Aircraft in the Air, Lublin Airport Closed

In order to ensure the safety of Polish airspace, the Operational Commander of the Armed Forces has activated all necessary procedures. “Polish and allied aircraft are operating in our airspace, and ground-based air defense and radar reconnaissance systems have reached the highest state of readiness,” reads the statement from the Operational Command. The matter concerns a drone alert declared after 3 p.m. in, among other places, Ukraine’s Volhynia region, which borders Poland. For this reason, Polish aircraft were scrambled, and Lublin Airport was closed to flight operations.

The Command reported a threat of strikes by unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) in Ukrainian regions bordering Poland. As a result, military aviation operations began in Polish airspace.

“These actions are preventive in nature and are aimed at securing the airspace and protecting citizens, especially in areas adjacent to the threatened region,” the statement said.

All necessary procedures were launched. “Polish and allied aircraft are operating in our airspace, and ground-based air defense and radar reconnaissance systems have reached the highest state of readiness,” the Command assured.

The Command also emphasized that the situation is being closely monitored, and “subordinate forces and assets remain fully prepared for immediate response.”

Due to military aviation operations, Lublin Airport and the controlled airspace around it were closed to flight operations until 6:00 p.m. Airspace over part of the Podkarpacie region has also been restricted.
