Drunk Mother Carries Child on Motor Scooter and Causes Collision

In a shocking incident that unfolded on Monday, a 39-year-old woman from Kęty was caught transporting her four-year-old child on a motor scooter while under the influence of alcohol. The situation took a turn for the worse when the scooter collided with a passenger vehicle, causing injuries to the young boy, who was subsequently rushed to the hospital. The Oświęcim police department provided details regarding the incident.

According to the police, both the car and the scooter were traveling in the same direction when the collision occurred, despite this seemingly avoidable situation. The four-year-old passenger on the scooter was admitted to the hospital for observation due to contusions sustained from the fall onto the road surface. The examination of the mother’s sobriety revealed an alcohol level of 0.8 per mile. On the other hand, the driver of the Fiat was found to be sober, as stated by Małgorzata Jurecka, the spokesperson for the Oświęcim police.

Law enforcement officials are now working to establish the precise causes and circumstances surrounding the incident. Their investigation aims to shed light on the events leading up to the collision and determine any possible factors that may have contributed to this dangerous situation.

The act of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol carries severe legal consequences. Offenders can face up to two years of imprisonment, a minimum three-year ban on driving any motor vehicle, and fines of up to PLN 60,000. Additionally, posing a threat to the life or health of a minor is punishable by up to five years of imprisonment.
