Duda-Trump Meeting. White House Statement: “A Close Alliance Confirmed”

President Donald Trump affirmed the close alliance between the United States and Poland during his meeting with President Andrzej Duda, according to a White House statement released following the leaders’ talks.

President Trump arrived at the CPAC conservative conference, where he was scheduled to deliver remarks. Prior to his speech, he met with his Polish counterpart. Notably, Andrzej Duda is the first European leader to meet with Trump since his inauguration.

“The President met with Polish President Andrzej Duda and confirmed our close alliance. President Trump also praised President Duda for Poland’s commitment to increasing defense spending,” the White House said in its statement.

Two photographs from the leaders’ conversation were published alongside the announcement.

Presidential spokesperson Diana Głownia explained that the meeting was the culmination of ten years of effective and consistent policy by the President of the Republic of Poland:

In a subsequent post, it was noted that the President was accompanied by Chief of Staff Marcin Mastalerek, Head of the International Policy Bureau Wojciech Kolarski, and Deputy Head of the International Policy Bureau Nikodem Rachoń.

President Duda remained at the conference to listen to President Trump’s speech.
