This Thursday, July 3rd, Tomasz Sakiewicz—Editor-in-Chief of Gazeta Polska, Gazeta Polska Codziennie, and President of TV Republika—will visit Piotrków Trybunalski to show his support for the city’s residents. First, he will participate in a joint effort to collect signatures for a local referendum initiative, and later that evening, he will attend an open meeting with the public.
For some time now, the people of Piotrków Trybunalski have been strongly engaged in opposing the planned establishment of a Foreigners’ Integration Center in the city. Public resistance to the relocation of illegal migrants has grown to the point that the Border Defense Movement (Ruch Obrony Granic) became involved.
Additionally, several weeks ago, a campaign was launched to collect signatures in support of a referendum to remove Juliusz Wiernicki, the Mayor of Piotrków Trybunalski, as well as the local City Council.
Alongside the Border Defense Movement, opposition politicians have also expressed their solidarity with the residents. Not long ago, during an extraordinary City Council session on the planned Integration Center, former Minister of Defense Antoni Macierewicz participated in the proceedings.

Editor Tomasz Sakiewicz decided to join our campaign. Anyone can collect signatures, but only residents registered and living in Piotrków Trybunalski may vote in the referendum. On Thursday, July 3rd, from 3:30 PM, Tomasz Sakiewicz will be with us collecting signatures in front of the shopping gallery on Słowackiego Street. Later, at 6:00 PM, an open meeting will take place with residents—and not only them!”
– explained Beata Dróżdż.
Tomasz Sakiewicz also encouraged participation in the Thursday meeting during a broadcast on Republika TV:
“I will support the local clubs by attending the 6:00 PM meeting. I fully endorse this initiative and believe that removing authorities who act against the will of the people is the only way forward.”
