Tomasz Sakiewicz, President and Editor-in-Chief of TV Republika, was a guest on Adrian Klarenbach’s program shortly after 11:00 AM. Sakiewicz addressed the situation in the Middle East, particularly the plight of Polish citizens who, in his view, have been abandoned by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He also commented on recent statements made by Deputy Foreign Minister Bartoszewski and discussed the so-called “Tape Scandal 2.0.”
Government is shirking responsibility
Statements suggesting that Poles should arrange their own transportation if they found themselves in the Middle East “recklessly” are irresponsible. They stem from the government’s desire to wash its hands of the matter—a general attitude this administration has toward its citizens. They show no real concern for the fate of individuals, Sakiewicz emphasized.
Giertych caught in his own trap
The discussion also touched upon the recordings involving key politicians from the Civic Platform party.
“We are witnessing the disclosure of a serious crime revealed by these recordings. What is shown appears to be a common practice within Civic Platform—namely, allowing others to vote on one’s behalf by submitting blank proxy votes. Both the individual who hands over the vote and the one who casts it are committing a crime. It constitutes a serious violation of electoral integrity. What’s especially noteworthy is that the person now leading efforts to challenge the election results is himself implicated in this offense. This is an extraordinary situation. Roman Giertych has fallen into his own trap,” said Tomasz Sakiewicz.
