EU Mainstream Targets Polish MEPs Obajtek and Dworczyk: Immunity at Risk

The Legal Affairs Committee of the European Parliament (JURI) has once again demonstrated that it will firmly defend members of the left-liberal mainstream while striking at politicians from the broadly understood right. This time, the committee has recommended lifting the immunity of Michał Dworczyk and Daniel Obajtek (Law and Justice – PiS).

The motions to strip their immunities were submitted to the European Parliament by former Minister of Justice Adam Bodnar. In Dworczyk’s case, the matter concerns the hacking of his email account and the theft of its contents.

In the case of Daniel Obajtek, it involves contracts concluded by Orlen with a selected detective agency, as well as the withdrawal from Orlen’s petrol stations of an issue of the weekly NIE, whose cover featured Saint John Paul II, but with the crucifix on his pastoral staff replaced by the image of an infant.

The final decision regarding their immunities will be made during a plenary session of the European Parliament.
