Free speech in Europe is under attack, and the latest victim is Polish MEP Jacek Ozdoba. During a recent meeting of the European Parliament’s Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice, and Home Affairs (LIBE), Ozdoba dared to challenge the hypocrisy of Adam Bodnar, Poland’s Minister of Justice. But instead of an open debate, he was swiftly silenced—his microphone cut off by the Spanish chairman, Javier Zarzalejos.
Hypocrisy at Its Finest
Bodnar, a key figure in Donald Tusk’s government, took the floor to talk about the rule of law. The irony? He himself is accused of being part of an attempted coup in Poland. This didn’t sit well with Ozdoba, who called out Bodnar’s blatant disregard for democratic norms. Instead of allowing this crucial discussion, the pro-EU establishment decided to shut him down.
The EU’s Double Standards
What happened next? Rather than addressing Ozdoba’s points, the floor was given to French MEP Fabienne Keller, who showered Bodnar with praise. It was a textbook example of the EU’s double standards: leftist politicians can do no wrong, while conservative voices are treated like enemies of democracy.
A Growing Threat to Democracy
To make matters worse, former Polish Interior Minister Bartłomiej Sienkiewicz cheered on this blatant act of censorship. He accused conservatives of refusing to accept defeat when in reality, it’s the EU elites who are afraid of dissent. The European Parliament, rather than being a place for open debate, is quickly becoming a tool to suppress those who defend national sovereignty and traditional values.
